Happiness

What exactly is happiness ? In my view, happiness is waking up with a smile on your face, ready to start another day in your life and going to sleep with the same smile, knowing that you did everything you said you would do at the start of your day.

Now, do you fell happy? Do you wake up happy and go to sleep happy? To speak for myself, I am happy, I feel happy and I am going to try to help you feel the same with some tips.

Tip #1: Time in family

Do you feel like you spend enough quality time with your family? If the answer to that is yes well, good for you, but if the answer is no then you should start doing so. The reason is easy: there is nothing that makes you happier than spending time with people that love you and care about you, which parents and siblings do unconditionally. At least half an hour of quality time should be spent in family daily. This could either be watching a movie, disscusing or playing a board game. Try it, and you will feel happier.

Tip #2: Toxic people

You are a good person. You care about your friends, you help them when they need your help and you are always there for them. But there are people surrounding you, even friends of yours, that are toxic.

How do you know when a person is toxic? Think of a friend of yours :

  • Do you trust him with everything ?
  • Does he listen to you ?
  • Is he there when you need help ?

If all the answers are “yes”, then he is a good friend. However, if not, you should think twice before considering him a “friend”.

  • Did he ever talk bad about you, behind your back ?
  • Did he ever abandon you when you needed him the most ?
  • Does he often embarrass you in public ?

If all the answer are “no” then good, but if some of them are yes then think about your relationship with him or her.

You should always avoid these people and have minimum contact with them because all they do is suck you entire energy and leave you miserable, which is the opposite of happy, which means it is not good.

#3: A pet

I know you are thinking that a pet doesn’t help much, but the truth is that especially dogs are creatures that are full of joy most of the time and that can make your day better when they jump on you, wanting to play for the rest of day. And it’s these little things that make you happy, so consider adopting a dog, you won’t reggret it.

#4: Hobbies

Do you have a lot of free time? Do you tend to remember all your problems while laying on the couch at home? Do you sometimes feel, during that time, that you don’t have a purpose in life? These certainly happen, they happen to me a lot, so I try to find a solution, a purpose. I try to do something useful in order to force those thoughts out of my mind.

The answer is hobbies. If it is either drawing, writing, playing an instrument, practicing a sport, going to the gym or lots of other activities, all of these keep you busy and make you feel like you have a purpose, and that translates into happiness whenever you progress at what you do.

For example, if you choose to join a gym as a hobby, and after the first two months you notice progress in your musculature, you feel like you have acomplished something and as a result feel happier and unpatient at the prospect of improving even more. So stop wasting your time at home not doing anything and try a new activity.

#5: Targets

Have you ever worked so hard for something and then eventually got it, finished it? How did that feel? It is an easy answer: you felt proud of youself, happy. That is a feeling everyone wants to feel as much as possible, so why not set yourself targets often and eventually reach them ?

Even telling yourself that you are going to run for 30 minutes, and then do it, you arrive home, sweating, but delighted to have done what you had said you would. These can keep you constantly happy, which is what everyone wants, happiness.

In conclusion, you should give these a go because they don’t require much effort, but bring a lot of joy in your life and certainly make you feel happier.

Thank you !!
